It is used to test important aspects of any engine like primary and secondary ignition timing, carburetor integrity, soundness of the battery charging system, emission levels, efficiency of the fuel system etc. The engine analyzer is also called a scope and is very useful in subsequent tuning procedures after a complete overhaul.
Seeking the Elusive Electrical Problem. Many times electrical problems are the most elusive, because they can occur intermittently. For example, the car engine may not work properly, but only after the engine warms up. Or the ignition works randomly. Perhaps the engine cuts out without notice while cruising down the highway. The battery is composed of six cells of heaped positive and negative lead plates, divided by insulators and wrapped up in electrolyte, which is a mixture of sulfuric acid and water. The six cells generate 2.1 volts producing an entirety of 12.6 volts. This kind of energy is stored energy and not produced energy.
